Classic Match of the Week

With Wimbledon about to draw to a close tomorrow with the greatly-anticipated final, we take a look back at a previous fantastic final to get you in the mood.

The 2009 Wimbledon final was fought out between Roger Federer and Andy Roddick, it didn’t disappoint.

Roddick gave Federer a very tough match, the Swiss master eventually won 5-7, 7-6 (8/6), 7-6 (7/5), 3-6, 16-14. I’m sure Roddick would have won many more Grand Slam titles than his one US Open victory had he not been in the same era as Federer, who remains the greatest of all time. This was the third time that Federer had beaten the American in a Wimbledon final.
