Murray Wins Tour Finals Opener

Andy Murray beat world number 6 Tomas Berdych 3-6 6-3 6-4 in his first ATP World Tour Finals 2012 match, taking him just over 2 hours.

After his first set defeat, in which he wasted numerous break points, Murray got himslef back on track and took the second set. The packed O2 arena then saw a very competitive final set, that was mostly dominated by service games. After a decisive break the US Open champion, who defeated the Czech at this year’s US Open, took control and eventually went on to win the final set 6-4.

World number 1 Nokak Djokovic and world number 8 Jo Wilfred-Tsonga are also Andy Murray’s group. Djokovic and Tsonga are on court later tonight.

Tomorrow is the turn of group B to take centre stage on the London court. Wimbledon champion Roger Federer faces Janko Tipsarevic while Paris Masters winner David Ferrer takes on Juan Martin Del Potro, who beat Federer is this year’s Basel final.
