The New World No.1 is into the Final

Novak Djokovic – the new No.1 – looked as though he’d have an easy ride from the start of the tournament, with Tsonga and Berdych being his largest threats; However, Berdych beat Tsonga 6-3, 7-6 in the quater-final, leaving 5th seed Thomas Berdych to play 2nd seed Novak Djokovic in the semi-final. Djokovic said: “Obviously it’s a big challenge when you play a Top 10 player,”

This match was not too much of a challenge for the ‘Djoker,’ going 5-1 up quickly in the 1st set but he then lost 2 before winning the set finally 6-3. He then got an early break in the 2nd set, meaning, as every other game was won by the service player, he was able to win that 6-4. He went on to say: “I played tactically right. I was putting a lot of returns into the court, putting a lot of pressure on his serve. On the other hand, I was serving well when I needed to.”
